The HOKKAIDO meiji cup was h4eld at the Sapporo International Country Club ~Shimamatsu Course~ (6,557 yards / par 72) in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido. With its roots in the "Hokkaido Women's Open" since 1978, this year marks the 42nd edition of the tournament, which is held for the first time in three years as it is suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the Tokyo Olympics.

Lee Min-Young, who started the tournament tied for 3rd, won on this tournament with 9 under par and the final day was 67 strokes. It was for her 6th win. 1 stroke back of the leader, 8 under par, tied for 2nd place with Sakura Yokomine and Kokona Sakurai. Momoko Ueda, who started the day at the leader was in 4th place at 7 under par, while Ai Suzuki was tied for 5th at 6 under par.

This season has been slump, with only one top-10 finish until the previous week. She stated that one of the reasons for her slump performance was the inability of her coach to enter Japan from Korea due to the COVID19. This was a big problem for her, as she has a style of preparing fully for tournament with her coach. However, two weeks before the tournament, the immigration restrictions were relaxed. This allowed her to receive his guidance, which led her to the winner.
