It was 22-year-old amateur Yuta Sugiura (4th year at Nihon University) who left his name in the 50th tournament, which featured big names such as Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama. He started the final day four strokes the lead and finished at 12-under, three strokes lead of second place, to become the first amateur to win the tournament. Taiga Semikawa and Keita Nakajima tied for second at 9-under, and Yusaku Miyazato, Takahiro Hataji, and Brad KENNEDY (Australia) tied for fourth at 7-under. Hideki Matsuyama is tied for 10th at 5-under, Brooks Koepka (USA) is tied for 15th at 3-under, and U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark (USA) and Takumi Kanaya are tied for 37th at 1-over.

On the back nine, the gap to second place was temporarily reduced to two strokes. On the 11th hole, his tee shot into the trees resulted in a double bogey on that hole. On the following hole, he three-putted for a bogey on the 12th hole. As a result, he increased his score to 10-under. The gap between Taiga Semikawa and Brad KENNEDY was narrowing, but on the 16th hole, he made birdie with his second shot of 52 degrees to the right of the pin. At the final 18th hole, where he was two strokes behind, he took his second shot to the apron stage and placed it 50 centimeters next to the pin for birdie.
