The JLPGA TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP RICHO CUP that the last tournament in 2022 season was held at the Miyazaki Country Club (6,487 yards / par 72) in Miyazaki city, Miyazaki.
Miyu Yamashita, who finished the final day at 15 under par, won a playoff with Minami Katsu for her fifth win of this season. With this win, she also renewed her title as the Queen of the Prize Money, the first Japanese player to make an average stroke in the 60s for the year, and the highest annual prize money ever earned.
The playoff was held at the 18th hole, which ranked second in difficulty throughout the four days. That hole was her fifth challenge in this tournament and in the main round, she made three pars and one bogey. With trees on the left and deep rough on the right, she wanted to make sure to keep the fairway. Her focused tee shot kept the fairway with 167 yards remaining. For the second shot, she chose 6I and made it 8 meters behind the pin. She perfectly grasped the right-to-left putt and made a birdie to win the tournament.
