The Japanese Major “JLPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup” was held at the Joyo Country Club (6,465 yards / par 72) in Joyo, Kyoto.
19-year-old rookie Haruka Kawasaki won her first Tournament at a Japanese major in her hometown of Kyoto. The final day, she started 4th place at 8 under par. She made 1 eagle, 6 birdies, and no bogeys for a total of 16 under par, 4 strokes behind the leader and won. The victory at 19 years and 133 days old broke the tournament's youngest record set by Ai Suzuki, who won the 2014 event at 20 years and 128 days old.
The highlight of the tournament was the 8th hole. At the teeing area, she remembered the theme of the day, "Never give up until the end."
And then she made a super shot. For her second shot with 120 yards to go, she chose her one of the best club, the PW. However, it was a bit of a duffed shot. "I just had to be very careful about the direction," she said, and the ball was gone into the cup, and she got an "Eagle".
Then, came the second shot on the 18th hole, the most difficult. Although there was a scene where she let go of the club, she made an 8-meter putt from the pin to win the championship with consecutive birdies following the 17th.
