The Shinhan Donghae Open was held at the Club 72 Country Club Ocean Course (7,204 yards/par 72) in Korea.
The Shinhan Donghae Open is a golf tournament co-sanctioned by the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA), the Asian Tour, and JGTO. It is one of the major tournaments in Korea along with the Korea Open and the KPGA Championship.
Guntaek KOH, a 23-year-old local Korean who started in first place on the final day, scored a "68" with one eagle, five birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey for a 19 under par. He was then tied with Phachara Khongwatmai (Thailand), who finished with a "63" and a playoff ensued, but birdied the first hole (the par-5 18th) to win the tournament co-hosted by Japan, Korea, and Asia. JGTO member Keita Nakajima started the final day in 9th place and made an eagle, six birdies, and two bogeys for a 66, finishing in 3rd place at 17-under par, the best finish by a Japanese player. Anthony QUAYLE (AUS) and Richard T Lee (CAN) were tied for third place. Kensei Hirata started the day in 41st place and made a no-bogey round of 64 to finish in 9th place at 15-under par. Ryo Ishikawa also made nine birdies and two bogeys for a 65, to finish in 11th place at 14 under par, along with Ryuko Tokimatsu and others.
