[JLPGA] Game Result : JLPGA CAT Ladies Golf Tournament (18th – 20th Aug)

CAT Ladies Golf Tournament, was held at Ohakone Country Club (6,638 yards/par 72) in Nagano.

On the final day, Minami Hiruta, who started the day tied for the lead, finished "69" with a five-birdie, two-bogey and to enter a playoff with Mao Saigo, who was tied at 13-under for the tournament. Hiruta won her first Tour event with a birdie on the first hole. Saigo, in second place, finished "69" with a five-birdie, two-bogey on the day. However, she missed her 6th win on tour, her first since the "Bridgestone Ladies" last May. Shiho Kuwaki was third at 12-under, and Rio Takeda and Kotoko Uchida were fourth at 11-under. Chisato Iwai, the winner of the previous year's tournament, was sixth at 10-under with Fumika Kawagishi. Kokona Sakurai, who has won twice this season, was in 8th place at 9-under.

On the regular final 18th (par 5), there were screams from the gallery. Minami Hiruta's 1.5m birdie putt went off to the right, and her 50cm par putt for her win grazed the edge of the cup but did not go in. Her bogey finish brought her into a playoff with Mao Saigo.

"I didn't know how to feel about hitting birdie putts. I couldn't hit it with a normal mind. I couldn't stay calm." She recalled.

The first playoff of her career was also an unpleasant strain. When her tee shot went into the right rough, she could not get her second shot out of the right rough either. Nevertheless, she made a birdie with a 7I from 157 yards, to 1m to win the competition.
