HOKKAIDO meiji cup, was held at SAPPORO INTERNATIONAL COUTRY CLUB Shimamatsu Course(6,593 yards/par 72) in Hokkaido.
Ai Suzuki, the 2017 and 19 year Money Queen, won her 18th event on tour. Following the previous week's Rakuten Super Ladies, she started the final day alone in the lead and carded a 67 with five birdies and no bogeys for a total of 15 under par. She is the 14th player in the JLPGA to win a three-day tournament (54-hole) with no bogeys. Three strokes behind in second place at 12 under par was Shiho Kuwaki. Tied for third place at 10 under par were Kokona Sakurai, Sakura Koiwai, Haruka Kawasaki, and Shoko Sasaki.
On the final day, it was difficult to make birdie in the early going. It was losing momentum. But it was the par 5 6th hole that turned the tide. Suzuki chose 3W and her second shot flew into the trees on the left. It just barely escaped OB. The ball stopped 50 cm before the white stake. She then made a 4-meter par putt. The crisis was only this one time. On the 8th hole, her second shot with 92 yards to go was 3 meters in front of the pin with 50 degrees. She then made her first birdie of the day. On the 9th hole, she made her third shot from 44 yards to the pin 30 cm away and finished the front nine with consecutive birdies. She also birdied the 12th and 15th holes in the back nine. And the highlight of the day came at the 16th hole, where she made an 8-meter putting stroke for birdie. The first no-bogey Victory of her career was a great start, as if to blow away the blur that had kept her from winning for the past two years.
