[JLPGA] Game Result : JLPGA Fujitsu Ladies 2023 (13th – 15th Oct)

The JLPGA Fujitsu Ladies 2023, was held at Tokyu Seven Hundred Club (6,679 yards/par 72) in Chiba.

At 10:54 a.m., the tournament office decided to cancel the final day due to poor course conditions caused by the continuous rain that had been falling since the morning. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes, and Kokona Sakurai, who was in the lead at the end of the second day with a 12-under-par total, won the tournament for her fourth victory this season. The prize money will be paid out 75% of the time, and 25% of the reduced amount will be donated to junior development organizations. Chisato Iwai and Miyu Abe tied for second at 11-under, Haruka Kawasaki tied for fourth at 10-under, Miyu Yamashita and Reo Takeda tied for fifth at 9-under, and Haruka Morita and Shiho Kuwaki tied for seventh at 8-under.

The day before the final day, when bad weather was forecast, Chisato Iwai and Miyu Abe holed out in a tie for second place, one stroke behind the leader, and their faces were full of frustration. Ideally, they would have finished the day in a tie for the lead, but they had to finish at least in a tie for the lead to have any chance of winning the tournament. The uphill, 403-yard hole is the most difficult hole with a lip of a bunker in front of the green. In this hole, Iwai left a difficult approach as her second shot failed on the green. And her approach was also 2.5 meters over the pin. She was able to miss the par putt and made a bogey, leaving her one stroke behind the winner, Kokona Sakurai. Abe made consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th holes to close the gap to Sakurai by one stroke and left a birdie putt of about 5 meters at the 18th, but was unable to make it all the way, finishing the second day one stroke behind.
